  • Lahore High Court today extended Mumbai attack mastermind and banned Jamaat-ud-Dawah chief, Hafiz Saeed's house arrest for another 30 days. A court official said after listening to the arguments of the Government’s law officer, a three member Punjab Judicial Review Board today granted 30-days extension to Saeed’s house arrest.

  • As a Diwali gift to personnel of military and paramilitary, the Government has abolished the monthly charges on Digital Satellite Phone Terminal, DSPT and also reduced call rates to 1 rupee per minute. Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha yesterday said Defence as well as paramilitary personel will be able to make calls to their families using satellite phone for Rs 1 per minute from today, instead of the existing Rs 5 per minute.

  • External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj has directed the Indian High Commission in Islamabad to issue a visa to a Pakistani child for medical treatment in India. The child's father had requested Mrs Swaraj on Twitter to grant medical visa for treatment of Abdullah, saying he needed post-liver transplant evaluation in India.

    A division bench of the Kerala High Court today restored the life ban imposed on cricketer S Sreesanth by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) in the wake of the 2013 IPL spot-fixing scandal. The bench, comprising Chief Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh and Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan, gave the verdict on a petition filed by the BCCI against a single-judge bench's order, lifting the life ban imposed on the 34-year-old pacer.

    Babar Azam scored a second succesive hundred while Shadab Khan gave his career best bowling and batting to help Pakistan thump Sri Lanka by 32 runs in the second day-night international in Abu Dhabi. One-drop batsman Babar knocked a fighting 133-ball 103 while Shadab scored a career best 52 not out to lift Pakistan from a struggling 79 for 5.

    Sri Lankan cricket has decided to play a T 20 match in Lahore this month despite security apprehensions expressed by majority of players. The board meeting in Colombo Monday evening decided to go ahead with the match after players had written to the board to consider changing the venue of match.
