  • The US Senate has voted to approve a budget blueprint for the 2018 fiscal year that will pave the way for President Donald Trump's promise of massive tax cuts and reform without Democratic support. The Republican controlled Senate approved the budget measures on Thursday by a 51-to-49 vote, which would add up to 1.5 trillion dollars to the federal deficit over the next decade in order to pay for proposed tax cuts.

  • The ongoing strike by the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) employees, who are demanding a pay hike, entered the third day today even as talks held among stakeholders failed to break the deadlock.   • Bihar Cabinet has approved a hike in the dearness allowance payable to state government employees, pensioners and family pensioners. Principal Secretary of cabinet secretariat department Brajesh Mehrotra told reporters that the DA payable to those getting salary or pension as per revised pay scale has been raised from four per cent to five per cent, with effect from July 1 this year.




  • Eleven people have been booked in Chandigarh for allegedly bursting crackers in violation of a court directive that crackers could be burnt only on Diwali evening. Police said, it has registered cases against 11 unidentified persons in different parts of the city for bursting crackers last night.
