    Jitu Rai and Heena Sidhu gave India their first gold medal of the ISSF World Cup Final in New Delhi, clinching the top honours in the 10m air pistol mixed team event on the opening day of competitions. Rai, a Commonwealth and Asian Games gold-medallist, and Sidhu, former Commonwealth Games gold-winner, picked up their third gold together in the mixed team event, being held officially for the first time at an ISSF World Cup.




  • In accordance with the order issued by the High Court on improving the salary of ST employees, a high authority committee was set up by the state government last evening. The 5 member committee comprise of the Principal Secretary, Transportation, Principal Secretary Finance, Vice President, MD of The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), Transport Commissioner and Labor Commissioner.

  • The interlocutor for Naga peace talks, R N Ravi today lauded the Naga tribal grass-root organiations and civil societies for making it possible for the six Naga National Political Groups (NNGPs), who are now formally party to the peace process, to come together. Ravi who is in Nagaland to hold peace talks with the working committee of six NNPGs, said in Dimapur today that this is a historic development because howsoever comprehensive the Naga issue, we cannot leave anyone out of the peace process.




  • Niti Aayog Vice Chairman Rajiv Kumar today cited connectivity as the critical constraint for development of Arunachal Pradesh and urged the state to work on it with a proper vision and plan. Special Judge Arun Bhardwaj took cognisance of the charge sheet and issued production warrant for October 25 againstQureshi, who is in judicial custody.

  • he Jammu and Kashmir government has approved setting up of four fast-track courts in the state. An official spokesperson said in Srinagar tonight that the state Cabinet, which met today under the chairpersonship of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, approved setting up these fast-track courts.



  • Seven Delhi Police personnel have been dismissed from service for allegedly allowing an arrested middleman in the Election Commission (EC) bribery case to shop in a Bengaluru mall where he had been taken for a court hearing. Dependra Pathak, the chief spokesperson of Delhi Police and special commissioner of police (Traffic) said in New Delhi today that after the inquiry report found seven policemen guilty of unprofessional conduct, they were dismissed from service.
