  • Sri Lanka Coast Guard has commissioned the Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV), CG 60 provided by Indian coast guard last month as ship 'Suraksha'. The ship was commissioned at a ceremony held at the Colombo Harbour on Saturday amidst presence of state minister of defence Ruwan Wijewardene, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu and other dignitaries.




  • Home Minister Rajnath Singh has said that government has so far opened more than nine thousand Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra to impart skill training to youth. Inaugurating one such a Centre at Mandir Marg in New Delhi, Mr Singh said, government has earmarked 12 hundred crore rupees so that youth belonging to economically weaker section could be trained in skill training.




  • The cross LoC ‘Karvan-e-Aman’ weekly bus service between Srinagar and PoK’s capital Muzaffarabad, resumed today after remaining suspended last week due to Diwali festival. Official sources told AIR that passengers from this side and from Muzaffarabad will travel through LoC via Kaman Post in Uri sector in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.




  • In Yemen, three soldiers and five assailants were killed in an attack on a military base in the southern province of Abyan today. A security source said a car rigged with explosives carrying five men pulled up to a military base in the district of Mudiya in Abyan.



  • Congress today hit out at the BJP for allegedly bribing Patidar leaders.Briefing media in New Delhi, party spokesperson Manish Tewari said, BJP is nervous and desperate to win the Gujarat Assembly elections.

  • In Nepal, a total of 802 candidates have filed nominations for the first phase of Parliamentary and Assembly elections. The Election Commission said, 320 candidates submitted their papers for 37 constituencies of House of Representatives and 482 candidates filed nominations for 74 State Assembly constituencies.

  • In Nigeria, a suicide bomber killed 13 people in the city of Maiduguri yesterday.Police said, the attack, which also injured five people, struck the city's Muna Garage area.
