    In cricket, India will once again start overwhelming favourites when they take on an inconsistent-but-gritty New Zealand in a three-match ODI series, starting in Mumbai tomorrow. The match will begin at 1.30 p.m.

  • The Centre has given clearance for a greenfield airport project at Hirasar, near Rajkot in Gujarat, at a cost of over 1,400 crore rupees.The state government had proposed a new airport in Rajkot district as the existing one is small and the earlier plan to extend the current runway could not be materialised due to high land cost.

  • The Jharkhand government today said, Aadhaar card was not mandatory to collect food grains from the public distribution system.State Food Minister, Saryu Roy said in Jamshedpur today that any card, including a driver's license and voter ID card or any specified card, is permissible for procuring food grains.

  • The agitating employees of Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) called off their five-day strike late last night after a meeting of their core committee. MSRTC employees went on an indefinite strike on Tuesday demanding a salary hike in accordance with the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations.

  • In Uttarakhand, the portals of famous Himalayan Shrine of Kedarnath and Yamunotri closed today on Bhaiya Dooj for winter amid chanting of vedic hymns. The Char Dham yaatra to Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri begins in May and closes this time of the year, as the area remains covered by the snow during winters.

  • In Chhattisgarh, Maoists set ablaze five vehicles in Dantewada district of Bastar division today. AIR correspondent reports that some Maoists reached near Kamaloor in Bhansi area and set the vehicles on fire.

  • In Karnataka, four persons were killed on the spot this morning when a truck hit a car on national highway 63 near Hospet.Another five injured in the accident are admitted to Hospet government hospital.

  • In Maharashtra, ten labourers were killed and 20 injured when a truck ferrying them overturned near Sangli this morning. According to police, the truck flipped over at a sharp turn amid low visibility near Tasgaon town.

  • Delhiites witnessed mist and shallow fog this morning in the national capital resulting in low visibility with the minimum temperature settling at 18.4 degrees Celsius. The weatherman said, the humidity was recorded 85 per cent in the morning while the visibility was recorded 1,000 metres.

  • In Himachal Pradesh, the nomination process for the ensuing state assembly elections is continuing in all the 68 assembly constituencies.Monday is the last date of filing nomination and the papers will be scrutinized next day.

    Kidambi Srikanth knocked out local hero and World champion Viktor Axelsen in men's singles quarterfinals in the Denmark Open Super Series Premier Badminton in Odense last night. Srikanth, who had suffered losses against Axelsen in the last three encounters, showed tremendous resilience and mental fortitude to oust the reigning World number one 14-21, 22-20, 21-7 in a match that last 56 minutes at the Odense Sports Park.

  • Chief of Army Staff General Bipin Rawat has said, the security situation in Kashmir Valley recently has improved considerably and the Army is capable enough to deal with any security-related challenge across the State. Addressing media persons on the sidelines of an Army function in Jammu today, the Army Chief said, the terror camps in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) are still intact and the Army has been dealing effectively with the attempts of infiltration from across the Line of Control (LoC).
